30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours?

Where do we go from here? My understanding is that probably today, but certainly within 48 hours, about 30 super-delegates will endorse Mr Obama. That should give him further momentum. John Zogby: 'there is no chance' Clinton can win Mathematically, this will widen the gap between him and Mrs Clinton. He has a bigger share of the popular vote, more pledged delegates, and will now overtake her in terms of super-delegates too. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7387919.stm

This is quite a development if it's true. Any thoughts? Is it just a rumor?

WYFP?  How is it CCRRAZY to cite an article FROM THE BBC (not exactly the National Enquirere) and query whether a statement made therein is true or not?

yes it's the BBC but it's written by John Zogby  who has a "bit" of knowledge regarding US politics

really well.

Zogby and credibility, accuracy, truth.

I don't buy it, there will be 4-5 a day for Obama.

It is sad but I have more faith in George S. than Zogby and George S has sold out.

Zogby did the best in predicting PA and IN.

That is true (2.00 / 1)

However a few correct calls do not remake a reputation as tarnished as Zogby's.

If he gets November right I'll regard him as a decent pollster again.

Re: 30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours? (2.00 / 1)

I don't think so.  Nothing on CNN like this all morning...the Obama campaign had "50 superdelegates" just waiting for TX and OH or whatever...

He hasn't sewn it up yet.

No candidacy is more important than the right to vote.

Re: 30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours? (2.00 / 2)

The supers do not want Hillary's constituency to feel that they are pushing her out, so my feeling is their endorsements will trickle in rather than pour.  It is probably better for the Party that way.

interesting (none / 0)

so will they announce in the dead of night, so that their constituencies don't find out?  Is this our "strong" democratic leadership, too chicken to come right out and support Obama?  OR, is there something else going on, like waiting to see how the rest of the country votes, and the deal on Michigan and Florida?

Re: interesting (none / 0)

No, Michigan and Florida will be resolved in a reasonably equitable manner.  And yes, waiting for the rest of the country to vote.  If the supers are the ones to put this to rest, they need to act in concert only after the process ends rather than being seen as short-circuiting that process.  That is what I was trying to say in my original post.

Re: 30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours? (none / 0)

Actually, 60 or so declared in the next couple of weeks after they said he had 50, just not all at once. So the 50+ was correct - though the announcement of it the way it was done gave people the mistaken notion that they would come out as a group.

Re: 30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours? (none / 0)

link no work,

but I will believe it when it happens, for now nothing really happens till may 20th, when Obama passes the half way mark for pleaded delegates.

till then its just 2 weeks of a few supporters arguing that this isn't actually over.

I think I heard a meteor or something is about to hit Obama or something.

ahhh, okay... just looking on the wiki now.  He's not a superdelegate.    But he was John Edwards campaign manager, so there is some significance to his endorsement.

but now I am all about wrapping up the primary, and then uniting the party, and then moving on to defeat John McCain.

I plan on volunteering here in Minnesota so I am excited for the fall

30 SDs? I doubt it. Heard that rumor too many times. It's possible, but not likely. 5 or 6 SDs seems probable. 5 or 6 a day also probable.

Wait and see (none / 0)

We've heard reports like this before. Supposeldy there was a bloc of 50 all set to go to blow Clinton out before PA. It never happened. Then the NC congressional delegationk was supposed to endorse Obama en masse. Didn't happen. My guess is we will see the same pattern continue for the next month. Obama slowly but steadily gaining.

by Mayor McCheese on Thu May 08, 2008 at 09:35:14 AM EST

Re: Wait and see (2.00 / 1)

Look at the numbers. There were 60 or so that endorsed between OH-TX and PA. They just didn't do it as a group.

Re: 30 SD's for Obama within 48 hours? (none / 0)

I seriously doubt it, and I'm an Obama supporter. They're rolling them out slowly but steadily, so as not to force Hillary out, but let her down slowly. We've heard these rumors about huge SD movements too often.
